Company Overview

Phoenix Engineering Pty Ltd (also referred to as ‘Phoenix’) specialise in independent multi-disciplined building services across Residential, Commercial, Educational, Health and Retail sectors. Established in 1987 by Director, Tim Whitelum, Phoenix exists to affirm good engineering.

With a uniquely qualified team, Phoenix has over 200 years of combined experience in the industry, having technical and in-depth knowledge across all building services. Whether engaged at design stage, during construction, defects liability period or tuning existing buildings we add a tremendous amount of value in cost saving, efficiency, avoiding reworks and troubleshooting. Our independence affords clients our unbiased recommendation in all engineering matters, whilst our ability to bring clarity between all parties keeps projects moving on time and on track.

Management Team

vTim Whitelum - Director

Tim has 40 years of solid experience in commissioning management of Mechanical/HVAC, Hydraulic, Electrical, Fire and Control systems. Prior to starting Phoenix in 1987, Tim successfully ran businesses specialising in the co-ordination, installation and commissioning of multi-discipline services.

With a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Tim's career spans many engineering disciplines including being a refrigeration mechanic, commissioning technician, site supervisor and overseeing multi-discipline services during installation and commissioning phases. Tim is also a longstanding member of both AIRAH and CIBSE.

As Director, Tim oversees and operationally directs the engineering team to ensure our clients always achieve their goals. He loves nothing more than to troubleshoot, applying extensive experience and what he says is "commonsense" to ensure clients enjoy their buildings for years to come.

Tim is supported by the Phoenix team who have over 200 years combined experience.

vLee Marshall - Senior Commissioning Manager

Lee is the Senior Commissioning Manager, heading Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, and also manages jobs in Melbourne. He has a large amount of projects under his belt, exceptional understanding of Green Star and several LEED projects underway.

From early Schematic design, through construction and into DLP, Lee has no problems conversing with stakeholders of all levels, and managing the process in its entirity. Lee is fully qualified and can provide all services offered by Phoenix that are listed under the services page on this website.
